I loved this touching music video by artist Chiara Savasta. It’s very emotional, full of nostalgia, and feels from a younger time. Here is what the artist had to say. This is definitely one of my new favorite songs I’ve heard this year!
“Following her latest single, “Your girl forever,” the young Montreal artist, who usually likes to drown her listeners into a romantic daze with her ballads and soft-spoken words, surprises us with a nostalgic pop tune called “Bike rides.” Chiara’s “Biker Rides” is a testament to past summer nights. As the first single for her upcoming EP SUMMERHOOD Part.1, it sets the tone for the rest of the tape, bringing to life the essence of a coming-of-age and teenage daze with synths sounds, electric guitar as well as acoustic guitar and shoegaze drums. Unlike past tunes of Chiara’s, this song will once again bring a feeling of reminiscence or maybe the memory of a long-lost childhood best friend. However, the use of major chords in this song won’t leave you with watery eyes but surely with a bittersweet sentiment. Bike Rides recounts the story of someone breaking up with their first love. This love happened during summertime. During the song, the protagonist elaborates on how everything was perfect, a “summer love”: climbing onto roofs, driving to the suburbs, etc. The first line: “Put me in a movie, I want my picture on your bedroom’s walls,” is a reference to how the protagonist romanticizes the love they had with that person and then continues by setting the tone of a “breakup song” by reminiscing on their past love: “back when you were 19teen, you saw me in all the girls that made you fall”. The chorus, “I guess it wasn’t forever,” establishes that the song is a nostalgic ballad about a past love. It also underlines the naivety of first love, thinking it would last forever, but eventually, it didn’t.
I like this old-school sound that gives off great energy and upbeat vibe. Here’s more from the artist.
“Slumming With The Saints is the Alt-Pop solo project from Pat Adams, previously from post hardcore band Crush Factor. He collaborates closely with Mark Solomich (Junior Prom / Warner Chappell) on all production, arrangement and good vibes. Pat focuses his song writing on the low end as he considers bass his main instrument. With SWTS he again focuses on bass but now covers lead vocals as well. Perfect Plan is the first single from the forthcoming EP again showcasing big hooks and sing along choruses. The SWTS live show is a bass and drum duo aka, Royal Blood, IDKHOW. SWTS is currently looking for the right indie label to support the release of the EP as all recording and production is complete.”
The new artist I’ve discovered this year Kiey is definitely an artist to watch. I love his energy and the music videos are very creative. Here’s a note from the artist about the video.
“Right When The Sun Rises” is a euphoric club-banger electropop record leading my new album “Sunday Sanctuary”. This is about a break-up of an ambiguous relationship right on the cusp of sunrise. Instead of sadness, the character found clarity and relief as he walks away from the scene, soaking up the warmth of the sunrise.”
Really interesting piece for four hands on piano. It reminds me of the piece ‘Hammers’ by Nils Frahm. I highly recommend checking out their music and sharing this video!
David Nascimento’s ambient piece ‘Expectans Aliquid’ gives off some Aphex Twin vibes. Check out this haunting melody and other music from this artist.
Really beautiful film music by French composer Annick Ozier Lafontaine. I really loved the music video and especially the strings. Thanks for listening!
